Personal

It has been shown the counseling process is most successful when a connection is made between the therapist and client. I believe the process is relational and treat each person as an individual who is important, highly valued, and deserves to be treated with care, concern and respect. The process is personal, not sterile or stoic; I meet you where you are in a caring, non judgmental and always confidential manner. There is a hope focused perspective for you on your needs, your relief, your health and your overall fulfillment so you can enjoy life.

Treatment

I provide Christian and traditional counseling. I integrate proven secular psychological theories in the therapeutic relationship. Although many forms of therapies may be used, for individuals I mainly utilize cognitive therapy since many problems are rooted in history or current thinking. This therapy involves the teaching of principles for practical living, modeling, skills training, restructuring and problem solving. For couples I use Gottman Method Couples Therapy based on over 40 years of research on couple relationships and is focused on what makes relationships succeed or fail. Your treatment is always a collaborative process between you and me; it is important you are comfortable and confident in the decision making processes that lead you toward what you want to accomplish and who you want to be.
My foundational belief is that Biblical principles speak to meaning, purpose and change needed in order to achieve healthy relationships with God, the individual themselves and with others. I use Christian principles in the therapeutic process as a source for real personal growth always in a non-coercive manner. I incorporate spiritual insight at a level you are comfortable with, but it is never forced. Christ’s model in the New Testament shows He always spoke the Truth, and always gave the person a choice to believe. In addition, it is proven to be therapeutic for each individual to come to their own decisions and be enabled regarding their personal growth, development and healing.

The Whole Person

I bring a holistic approach to overall health and well being. I treat the whole person-: mind, body and spirit; and deal with thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Assessment encompasses possible physical or chemical imbalances that may be hampering good mental or physical health. I also routinely coordinate care with other professionals that may need to be a part of your healing process. In working with you, we find solutions for your specific issues, but also deal with other internal or external sources that may be holding you back from your full potential. “The Word of the Lord is perfect, restoring the whole person.” Psalm 19:7
